What’s New For The 2023 Toyota Highlander?
Toyota went all out for this new model giving our customers dozens of reasons to love the 2023 Highlander. For starters, there is a new higher-torque, high-efficiency turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood.
This new engine delivers 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, equating to a 17% increase over the previous 3.5-litre V6 option. What does this mean for Edmonton drivers? The new Highlander will accelerate and drive with ease even when filled to the brim with passengers and cargo.
There are even more upgrades inside the 2023 Highlander including two standard 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) screens on the Limited and Platinum grades. (An 8-inch centre touchscreen will be standard for the XLE and XSE grades).
Both Limited and Platinum grades also feature a 12.3” Full Digital Instrument Cluster screen that replaces the 7-inch TFT. This gives the 2023 Highlander the most screen space of any model previously available.
Other amazing upgrades include standard power folding exterior mirrors on the Limited and Platinum grades and now front passengers can charge their smartphones more easily thanks to a newly positioned Qi-compatible charger on the instrument panel shelf. The 2023 Highlander is truly in a league of its own thanks to all these upgrades for our customers.
Is There a Lot of Space Inside The 2023 Toyota Highlander?
Just because the Highlander has space for eight passengers is it actually roomy enough for them and all their things?
Yes!
The Highlander LE and XLE grades come standard with a second-row bench. However, if you choose the Hybrid Bronze Edition, XSE, Limited and Platinum (gas and hybrid) grades, they come standard with two second-row Captain Chairs leaving room for seven.
Regardless of the seating arrangement, accessing the back row is easy thanks to large rear doors and easy-to-use folding features. In terms of space, there is also an abundance of both head and legroom.
In the third row, passengers have 36.1 inches and 28.0 inches respectively. That increases to 39.4 and 38.7 inches in the middle. Finally, upfront, passengers enjoy a roomy 41.2 inches of headroom and 42 inches of legroom. That puts it well ahead of most eight-passenger SUVs on the market right now.
There is a ton of space for all your cargo, too. When the Highlander is full, you still have 453 L of space behind the third row to play with. Folding the 60/40 split fold-flat third-row seatbacks expands the space to 1,370 L and then folding the second row raises that to 2,387 L. The design is impressive, too with extra pockets throughout the cabin for storing things.
Is The 2023 Toyota Highlander Fuel Efficient?
The 2023 Highlander is one of the best fuel-efficient SUVs in Canada thanks to an average fuel consumption rating of just 6.7 L per 100 km on the hybrid model. This adds up quickly at the pumps, likely saving Edmonton drivers thousands of dollars throughout the year.
Are There New 2023 Highlander Styles To Choose From?
The 2023 Highlander now features two new style packages including the Hybrid Bronze Edition which was launched last year. Buyers can choose between Cement and Wind Chill Pearl exterior colours and enjoy stylish upgrades like 18-inch bronze wheels. Other upgrades include a hands-free power liftgate and rain-sensing wipers.
The 2023 Highlander XSE also gets a makeover for buyers looking for a sportier look and feel. Featuring exclusive all-black 20-inch wheels, the XSE is home to a new suspension system, rear stabilizer bar and low-friction shock absorbers that not only look fantastic but make the drive a lot more fun, too.
