Toyota and Gazoo Racing have teamed up for the 2023 GR Corolla — with an engine and design that was built for gearheads and performance enthusiasts alike. There is a lot to be excited about starting with the turbocharged 1.6L three-cylinder engine putting out a revelatory 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Driving purists will be pleased to know that this fierce little engine is paired with a six-speed manual and short-throw shifter. The result? New owners of this exciting new speedster can go from 1 to 100 k/h in less than five seconds.
How Many Trims Does The GR Corolla Have?
This exciting new hatchback comes in three trims: Core, Circuit and Morizo.
The GR Corolla feels a lot like the Corolla hatchback inside which is a great thing in terms of quality materials and available features. Everything is just a little sportier, though and as the trim levels increase the luxury touches pile up. Standard equipment includes ambient interior lighting, a six-way adjustable driver's seat, a push-button start, and aluminum pedal covers.
Core
The GR Corolla Core has sporty 18-inch alloy rims, an 8-inch touchscreen, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, heated front seats and a Torsen limited-slip diff. The Technology package on Core models gives buyers an eight-speaker JBL stereo system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and in-dash navigation; all features that come standard on the Circuit trim.
Circuit
The GR Corolla Circuit will be exclusive for 2023 adding special touches like GR red calliper brakes, and a macho-vented hood bulge. There is also a sporty rear spoiler and new seats inside thanks to some suede touches. Drivers who love cranking the tunes will also appreciate the better sound system. Finally a carbon-fibre roof and unique shifter knob coupled with a heated steering wheel make this sporty hatchback feel especially lux.
Morizo
Rear passengers are a no-go in the Morizo with the back seat left from the design to make this road warrior that much lighter and faster. The seats inside are levelled up even further with synthetic leather trying. Performance-wise, the six-speed manual gets fettled with closer ratios.
